Parramatta area

Where to Live in Sydney

Highlights of the area:-

  • Large migrant population.
  • West part of Sydney.
  • Close to Harris park which has got all the eateries, shops, and amenities.
  • Reasonably good primary(kindy to year 6) and high schools(year 7 to 12).
  • Fast trains(less than 30 mins) to the city.
  • Good in case your parents come to visit you down the line since there is a large parent group also in the suburb.
  • Good to mingle with fellow migrants in case you feel homesick and lonely.
  • Most apartments in this suburb.
  • Auburn temple nearby.
  • Childcare facilities(you have to put yourself on the waiting list)

Blacktown area

Highlights of the area:-

  • It is mostly a replica of the Parramatta area.
  • West part of Sydney
  • It is 20 mins further to Parramatta hence 20 mins more travel time to the city.
  • It has houses and apartments.
  • It has got a Sikh temple. Good for community feeling and good for aging parents(in case they come to visit you)
  • Similarly large migrant communities.
  • Slightly cheaper rent than Parramatta.
  • You become familiar with the area and may end up in newer houses in newly developed areas of Blacktown like ponds, marsden park, Schofields, etc.

Strathfield area

Where to Live in Sydney

Highlights of the area:-

  • It is closer to the city than Parramatta.
  • The inner part of Sydney.
  • Mostly apartments.
  • Suits someone who wants more convenience and is a frequent traveler to the city.
  • More busy lifestyle and less time to mingle
  • It has a mixed community.
  • Childcare facilities(you have to put yourself on the waiting list)
  • More rent than Parramatta.

Hornsby area

Highlights of the area:-

  • Some people decide that they don’t want to live with their fellow migrant communities.
  • Hence they move to the northern part of Sydney.
  • Good schools.
  • A mixed community might attract you to choose this area to live in Sydney.
  • Old parents(if they come to visit you) may find it hard to mingle and find friends.
  • You may end up buying an apartment hence may not have enough equity down the line.
  • Old houses rather than new houses in the northwest.

Rockdale area

Highlights of the area:-

  • Some people get a job in the eastern part of Sydney hence they move east.
  • Eastern part of Sydney.
  • Good schools.
  • Mixed community.
  • May end up buying an apartment or an old house.
  • Good childcare.
  • Closer to the airport.
  • Easy commute to the city.

Epping area

Highlights of the area:-

  • The inner west part of Sydney is another good option to live in Sydney.
  • Mixed community.
  • Mostly apartments or old houses.
  • Expensive houses(since they will be knockdown one day to build new apartments).
  • May end up buying an apartment.
  • Significantly good schools.
  • Good childcare
  • More rental
